Women's Participation in Plastic Waste Segregation

   Prime Minister Narendra Modi today launched a comprehensive nationwide awareness campaign - Swachhata Hi Seva 2019 on cleanliness in Mathura. Special emphasis is being given to 'Plastic waste awareness and management' under SHS 2019. 
 
   It is being held from September 11 to October 2, 2019. The Swachh Bharat Abhiyan aims to dedicate an Open Defecation Free (ODF) India on the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. 
   The launch of SHS was organized jointly by the Animal Husbandry and Milk Production and Drinking Water and Sanitation Departments of the Central Government and the Government of Uttar Pradesh. 
  The Prime Minister also went to the Livestock Health Science Fair, where he witnessed the surgery of cows to remove plastic waste from their stomachs. She then interacted with a group of women from Uttar Pradesh, who segregated plastic waste and placed them in recyclable and nonrecyclable categories. 
   The Prime Minister himself participated in the work of segregating plastic waste there. Addressing around 20,000 farmers, sarpanches, women's groups and cleaners, the Prime Minister called on all citizens to free their homes, offices and workplaces from the single use of plastic. Drawing public attention to the dangerous effects of such plastics on the health of the environment, animals and water animals, he said that when going out for shopping, use clothes or jute bags and use metal or clay to drink water in offices. Use glasses. 
   He asked the people to collect a fixed set of all plastic waste from their surroundings and ensure its safe disposal with the help of local administration during sanitation service. Addressing the gathering, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath talked about the positive effects of Swachh Bharat Mission, about the contribution of Swachh Bharat Mission in eastern Uttar Pradesh to overcome the deadly disease of encephalitis. 
  He said that with the significant increase in the scope of cleanliness under the Swachh Bharat Mission, the goal of freeing India from plastic waste will be achieved on the lines of ODF India. On this occasion, Union Water Power Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said that the whole world is eagerly waiting for the day when India will become ODF. 
   He said that the Swachhata Hi Seva 2019 campaign would go a long way in creating widespread awareness about plastic waste and its collection, recycling and disposal and would create a new mass movement for conservation of environment under the inspiring leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Milk Production Giriraj Singh, Minister of State for Water Power Ratan Lal Kataria, other ministers of the state and local MPs and MLAs also participated in the program.

India Will Fix 26 Million Hectares of Degraded Land by 2030

Cooperation in Making New Tourism Policy For Ladakh

   Union Minister of State for Culture and Tourism Prahlad Singh Patel said that the Ministry of Tourism will extend full cooperation to the local administration in formulating a new tourism policy for Ladakh. 
 
   He said that if needed, the officials of the Ministry would travel to Ladakh every month to provide support and assistance in this matter. In Leh Yatra,
   Union Minister of State for Culture and Tourism (Independent Charge) Prahlad Singh Patel held a meeting with all local stakeholders in Ladakh. Smt. Meenakshi Sharma, DG, Tourism Department; Ms. Rupinder Brar, ADG, Tourism Department, Principal Secretary, J&K Tourism Naveen Kumar Chaudhary and senior officials of Ministry of Tourism and officials of local bodies were present. 
   Shri Patel said that at present only 14 monuments of Ladakh region are under the protection of ASI. The Ministry intends to double or triple this number. There are many monuments in Ladakh and Kargil region which should be protected by ASI. Local stakeholders appreciated Mr. Patel's visit to Ladakh at the meeting. 
   The local people demanded better connectivity, better infrastructure, tax exemption, etc. to give a boost to the tourism industry. Mr. Patel assured him of the full cooperation of the Ministry and the Government of India. In the meeting, Joint Director General of Tourism Ministry Vikas Rusti gave a presentation on the work plan to promote tourism in Ladakh region. It showed that Ladakh has the potential to attract tourists from all over the world. Ladakh has been given a special place in the Atulya Bharat Abhiyan.

Use of Technology as a Teaching Aid

   The Prime Minister Narendra Modi, today, interacted with the recipients of National Teacher Awards 2018, at LokKalyan Marg New Delhi. 

   The Prime Minister congratulated the award winners for their exceptional work. He urged them to continue striving hard to transform the life of every student. 
  During the interaction, Prime Minister talked about the importance of using technology as a teaching aid. He asked the teachers to encourage brainstorming amongst the students to find solutions for the variousday to day problems. 
  He urged the awardees to give every child an opportunity, and not to bind the students down. The Prime Minister stressed on the need to stimulate creativity amongst students. He pointed out that encouraging creativity will act as self-motivation for children and enable them to compete with oneself. He added that it is important to understand student’s perspective about various issues. 
   He asked the teachers to keep the student inside each one of them alive and to keep learning. Interacting with the Prime Minister, the awardees narrated their transformational work in bringing about positive change in the schools. They also mentioned how Atal Tinkering Labs have enabled students to innovate and utilize technology. The Union Minister of Human Resource Development Ramesh Pokhriyal and Minister of State for Human Resource Development, Sanjay Shamrao Dhotre, were also present on the occasion.

Even After 72 Years, 18 to 20 Percent People are Below the Poverty Line

    Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu advised political parties to come forward with long-term structural programs to speed up the country's economic growth, rather than bringing in schemes for the temporary benefit keeping in mind the populist and vote. 
 
   At the Meet and Greet event organized by friends and well-wishers in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh in the joy of completing 2 years of the post of Vice President, 
  Vice President Shri Naidu said that even after 72 years of independence, 18 to 20 percent people are living below the poverty line. And about 20 percent people remain uneducated.
   The Vice President expressed his desire that political parties focus on improving the basic amenities of the people, ensure quality medical services and educational facilities, try to reduce gender discrimination and discrimination in society and urban and rural divisions. Mr. Naidu suggested political parties to be patient and tolerant of public opinion. 
  He said that political parties should respect the opponents and accept structural programs with an open mind. He said that resorting to violence or attacking someone unfairly is harmful to democracy. The Vice President called for an initiative to reform the legislature, executive and judiciary to make India an exemplary country in parliamentary democracy. 
   He said that there is a need to improve service delivery, reduce the delay in the functioning of the judiciary and ensure the completion of legislative and parliamentary functioning without any hurdles. He said that ultimately delivery of services to people on time matters. 
   The Vice President emphasized the change in thinking, attitude and behavior of people at various levels and urged people to renounce their sense of self-interest and adopt a positive and structural attitude. Emphasizing the growing enthusiasm and interest of India around the world, the Vice President expressed confidence that a 2-digit growth rate can be achieved if people start working in a structural manner. 
   Referring to the removal of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir, the Vice President called it a general reorganization of the state. Stating that Article 370 was a temporary provision of the Constitution, he said that it was a national issue, not a political one.
