Not Sufficient Health Facilities

It is reported that experts from Harvard University have found that Indian women are also victim of discrimination in terms of health services.

Due to conservative thinking, women are often unable to tell about their health problems. According to reports, a joint study conducted by researchers from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), the Statistical Institute of India, the Prime Minister's Economic Advisory Council and Harvard University has found that gender discrimination in India results in bad health on women. It is affecting.
According to the news, the researchers studied the records of 23,77,028 patients who visited AIIMS from January to December 2016. The study found that only 33 percent of women get healthcare. At the same time, the rate is 67 percent among men.
AIIMS is the third largest hospital in Asia. High level treatment facilities are available here. According to the news, every year more than 20 lakh patients are treated here. Four states, Bihar, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi, comprise 90 percent of the patients visiting here. The total population of these four states is more than 39 crores.
According to the news, research has shown that the reproductive age of a woman plays a big role in determining whether she can reach a doctor for treatment. Women between 31 and 44 years of age have to face less of gender discrimination.
The figure of 1.5 male patients per female patient has been found in this age range. At the same time, the rate of gender discrimination in women aged 45 to 59 is 1.4 male patients per female patient. Gender discrimination with women up to the age of 18 increases to 1.9 male patients per woman and to 2.02 male patients per woman with women between 19 and 30 years of age. In 2016, this rate was 1.7 male patients compared to a female patient above 60 years of age.
According to the news, the study also showed that due to the distance of the patient's place of residence from the capital Delhi, gender discrimination in treatment also increases. A far fewer number of women from Bihar and Purvanchal (Uttar Pradesh) came for treatment than Delhi. In 2016, the number of men who came for treatment in AIIMS from Bihar was more than 2 lakh, while the number of women was recorded 84,926.
This gender inequality was less visible in Delhi. Here, the number of women was 4 lakh 80 thousand as against 6 lakh 60 thousand male patients.
