Chidambaram's remand extended for four days

The CBI special court has extended the remand of former Finance Minister P Chidambaram for four more days in the INX Media case.

He will now be produced before the court on 30 August. Earlier, the Supreme Court has given relief to Chidambaram till Tuesday in the money laundering case involving INX Media. The case has been filed by the Enforcement Directorate or ED which wants to arrest them separately.
Congress leader and former finance minister P Chidambaram was arrested last week on Wednesday 21 August in a corruption case.
It is reported that he challenged the custody of the CBI in the Supreme Court. On which during the hearing on Monday, Chidambaram's lawyer Kapil Sibal said that this petition can be included in the list of hearing only on the orders of Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi. With this, Chidambaram had filed a petition to avoid CBI arrest. It was also rejected by the Supreme Court and made it unnecessary.
